Vince Staples is taking his talents to a television in your home very soon. Netflix has announced that the California native will work alongside Black-ish creator Kenya Barris to develop a comedy series that is inspired by his life.
“I am excited to partner with Netflix and Kenya Barris on The Vince Staples Show,” he said in a press statement.
“This has been something I have been developing for some time and I am happy it’s coming to fruition.”
Corey Smyth and Calmatic have signed on to direct the series’ first two episodes and work as producers as well. Entergalactic producers Ian Edelman and Maurice Williams are also attached to the project.
“It’s our mission to work with the best artists in the world. Vince has already established himself as one of the most talented young musicians today and we’re really excited about how his sensibility — and sense of humor — will translate into a unique comedy series,” Tracey Pakosta, who leads all Netflix comedy projects, said.
At this time, it is unclear when The Vince Staples Show will debut on Netflix. In the meantime, fans can check out previews os the series via YouTube.
