ABC has enlisted Oscar winner Matthew A. Cherry to direct two election-themed Black-ish episodes this October. The contents of the episode are still being kept underwraps, but we do know the two episodes will be titled, “The Election Part I” and “The Election Part II.” Early reports also indicate that part of the specials will be animated.
The ABC special is set to air October 4, 2020. However, the two episodes could be pushed back due to the NBA Finals. Given recent strikes within the league, the schedule could be pushed back and alter the air date of the special.
If the special does air as schedule, it would set up the ABC comedy to return for a seventh season in late October. Stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross are set to return for the show’s latest season. Meanwhile, Black-ish stars Yara Shahidi and Marcus Scribner are set to return for a third season of Grown-ish in 2021.
