Netflix Co-CEO and Chief Content Officer Ted Sarandos has confirmed that Squid Game will return for a second season. During Netflix’s fourth quarter 2021 earnings interview, Sarandos shared the news.
“Absolutely,” he said when asked if the show would return for a second season.
“The Squid Game universe has just begun.”
Sarandos is the latest player in the Squid Game business to let fans know that the show will return for a second season. Last fall, the show’s creator Hwang Dong-hyuk let viewers know that a second season was in the works. In addition, he said that actor Lee Jung-jae will return for another season.
“There’s been so much pressure, so much demand and so much love for a second season. So I almost feel like you leave us no choice,” Hwang told the Associated Press.
“But I will say there will indeed be a second season. It’s in my head right now. I’m in the planning process currently.”
With season two in the works, only question remains. When will it debut on Netflix? Only time will tell.
