Phoenix Suns head coach Monty Williams and his coaching staff have been selected to coach Team LeBron in the 2022 NBA All-Star Game in Cleveland. He will be the fifth head coach to be selected in franchise history and the first since Mike D’Antoni in 2007.

With Sunday’s win against the San Antonio Spurs, the Suns clinch the best record in the Western Conference as of February 6, which is the date that is set to pick the All-Star Game coaches. Currently, the Suns have 40 wins and only 9 losses, including a franchise-record win streak of 18 games and right now another 10-game win streak.
For Williams, and most of his staff, this will be his first experience as an All-Star coach but assistant coaches Randy Ayers (2001) and Mark Bryant (2012 and 2014) have experience in previous games.
The league still has to announce who will coach Team Durant which will be decided by the top team in the East by February 6. Currently, the Miami Heat has the No. 1 seed but there’s very little distance with the other teams in the conference. Sixers Doc Rivers is ineligible because he was selected to last year’s All-Star Game.
The 71st NBA All-Star Game will be played on Sunday, Feb. 20 at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland.
