Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson has found himself in legal trouble yet again. Under the New York’s Adult Survivors Act, a woman has accused the former heavyweight champion of raping her in a limousine in New York. An exact date has not been identified through initial reports, but it is believed that the lawsuit stems from an alleged encounter in the early 1990s. The plaintiff is reportedly seeking $5 million after enduring “physical, psychological and emotional” damages.
The affidavit claims Tyson met the woman at a nightclub in Albany, New York. After meeting, she says the two entered his limousine and he began to forcibly touch her and kiss her. Despite declining his advances, she says the former heavyweight champion continued to force himself upon her.
“I told him no several times and asked him to stop, but he continued to attack me,” she said.
“He then pulled my pants off and violently raped me.”
At this time, the woman who filed the lawsuit has opted not to reveal her identity because she is weary of potential harassment or harm. However, her attorney, Darren Seilback, has told reporters that the claims filed by his client are “highly credible.”
“This traumatic experience has caused me everlasting damage and I would like to preserve my privacy in this matter of a sensitive and highly personal nature,” the affidavit reads.
“Tyson is a famous celebrity and I know I would be attacked by the media and all of his fans.”
Tyson nor his legal representatives have issued a comment regarding the lawsuit.
