The Miami Marlins are making history with their recent move to hire Kim Ng to become the new General Manager (GM) of their organization. Ng is the first female and Asian-American to be appointed to a GM position across Major League Baseball. The Marlins feel that Ng is the best for the task of building a championship team and taking the team to the next level.

Ng is no stranger to the big leagues; having been a high-ranking executive for over thirty years, she moves into a new role with the Marlins, something that has never been done before. Ng started out as an intern and has worked her way up the ladder with organizations to find herself getting a GM gig with the Marlins after all the years.
Marlins owner Derek Jeter was searching for someone who will be able to excel in all areas crucial for a GM to be successful and felt that Ng’s experience over the years, including time as an Assistant GM, is going to do a lot. Jeter is replacing former GM Michael Hill, who is no longer with the Marlins organization.
The Marlins felt that bringing in Ng is the best move for the organization as they continue through their rebuild. In 2020, they were able to get to the postseason, but they still have a ways to go to execute their rebuild fully, and now Ng will oversee this.
