
On Saturday, January 18, the 2025 Dream Lives: Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in Columbus, Ohio will feature legendary entertainer Lana “MC Lyte” Moorer. Kicking off at 9 a.m. local time, the day of celebration will begin with an outdoor informal program at the Government Center before marching down 9th Street to the Columbus Convention and Trade Center. Afterward, festivities will continue inside the Columbus Convention and Trade Center at 10 a.m. as MC Lyte, Sherricka Day, Tracey Mosley, DJ Cashflow and Lakendra Huckaby paritcipate in a panel discussion.
“We look forward to this event each year. It allows us, toward the beginning of the year, to be reminded of Dr. King’s grace, humility, and leadership,” Mayor Skip Henderson said.
“We are excited to come together as a community to honor Dr. King’s legacy and renew our commitment to his vision of equality and justice,” added event chair Dr. Ron Williams. “With MC Lyte being featured at the event, we anticipate a day filled with inspiration, unity, and a call to action for all.”
MC Lyte is one of several entertainers leading the way during Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day events. Elsewhere, GRAMMY Award winner PJ Morton will be the keynote speaker at Clemson University’s 43rd annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Progrmam. Meanwhile, Scarface and other Houston legends headlined a concert raising money for local students.
