With each passing day, New York produces a new artist that is poised to take over the drill scene in the Big Apple and beyond. However, there are a few artists within this scene that have the ability to go beyond and make noise on a national level. Before his untimely passing, Pop Smoke had crowds overseas singing his tracks. More recently, Fivio Foreign appeared alongside the likes of Alicia Keys and Ne-Yo throughout his debut album. Now, it appears that Lola Brooke is poised to have her moment. Not only has she consistently delivered new music showcasing her talent, but she’s also received support from the likes of Cardi and Kim Kardashian. With the whole world awaiting her next move, Lola Brooke did what any New York artist would do in this moment — stop by Hot 97 to do a freestyle with Funk Flex.
Joined by DJ Drewski and a few members of her team, the New York native stepped up to the microphone with her letterman jacket, sunglasses and iced-out chain. As confident as ever, she floated between two instrumentals talking about everything from stimulus payouts to the city she comes from.
“Ten toes is what I keep down. They say you ain’t see it before, but n*gga do you see it now? I think they’re really out to get me. B*tch, f*ck your Birkin bag. I’ll put machine guns to your kelly. I was giving my last to people who couldn’t Zelle me. That’s why I never loan to these n*gga who couldn’t help me,” she rapped.
“Gator Season” is in full effect following the release of her lead video and the “Here I Come” visuals from November. Now, she’s back with more bars. Check out Lola Brooke’s freestyle with Funk Flex below.
