Lightweight contender Keyshawn Davis has found a new opponent for his upcoming bout in Newark, New Jersey on April 8, 2023 at the Prudential Center. Originally, he was scheduled to fight former champion Emmanuel Tagoe in a co-main event bout. Instead, he will fight Anthony Yigit in a co-main event bout.
Keyshawn Davis is an Olympic standout with an unblemished professional record of 7-0 with five knockouts. In 2022, he stopped Esteban Sanchez within the distance at the MGM Grand before stopping Omar Tienda Bahena within the distance at the Prudential Center. His last fight took place at Madison Square Garden on ESPN. Davis beat former title challenger Juan Carlos Burgos by decision before moving on to a showdown with Yigit.
“The Newark fans showed me so much love last time, and I can’t wait to give them another special performance. I’m going to make Yigit regret taking this fight. He’s been in the ring with some good fighters, but I’m on another level,” Davis said.
Anthony Yigit enters next month’s bout with a record of 26-2 with 10 knockouts. Yigit challenged Ivan Baranchyk for the super lightweight title back in 2018, but was stopped in the seventh round. Since then, he has put together a record of 5-1 with two knockouts. His lone loss came at the hands of two-division title challenger Rolando “Rolly” Romero. Now, he will look to put his previous setbacks behind him and upset the unbeaten Olympian.
“I’m excited to get back into the mix. Huge respect to Keyshawn for taking this fight, but he’s young. Too young,” Yigit said.
“He’s fast, I’m fast. He’s strong, I’m strong. He’s an Olympian, I’m an Olympian. My edge is my experience. I’m going to use it.”
