Things are a little different when you’re King. LeBron James violated COVID protocol when attending an event for his tequila brand. The photos from the event went viral as James was seen with rapper Draker among others. The Lakers star is apparently going to avoid punishment. David McMenamin of ESPN broke the story.
LeBron James won’t be suspended for protocols violation, sources tell ESPN. Nature of event didn’t rise to a threat level of virus spread, as described in @McTen‘s story below. Suns-Lakers Game 1 on Sunday. https://t.co/nEAcnBsbvv

There isn’t much more to it than that. Although James went to the party and violated protocol, the NBA decided the event did not meet a certain risk level of virus spread. The news is a shock to many NBA fans who believe that LeBron is getting special treatment that others would not have received. Especially with the Playoffs starting, the whole thing seems a bit fishy.
However, the Lakers will take on the Phoenix Suns Sunday in game one of their series. The Lakers recently took down the Golden State Warriors in the play-in tournament. James hit the game-winning three over Steph Curry. The Lakers are the seven seed in the west, but many believe they have a chance at repeating as champions.
With a healthy LeBron and Anthony Davis, there is no telling what the Lakers can accomplish. They seem to be a team that is just on the verge of hitting their stride if they can get their best pieces on the floor consistently. Without LeBron missing time due to the violation, this is a huge relief for the Lakers. If James had to miss one or more games there is no telling what may happen. Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and the Suns seem to be on a mission.
