LeBron James claimed that his Los Angeles Lakers would be playing the league MVP in Golden State’s Steph Curry in their play-in game Wednesday night. He may have been right.
Through the first quarter, the Warriors held their own. Curry knocked down his usual acrobatic layups and drew some fouls. Draymond Green would earn another technical foul for the season. he is third in the league currently in technical fouls.
Although it wasn’t the same level as 2015-18, Golden State moved the ball very well in the first. Crosscourt passes into open threes on the corner and drive-and-kicks were plenty. Anthony Davis was not very effective in the first period thanks to the defense down low. Warriors took the early lead 28-22.
Andrew Wiggins showed out on defense early.

The second quarter was even more of a Warrior show. Curry hit his first three of the game and then followed it up with another heat check. He hit that as well. Draymond really was a wet blanket on Anthony Davis most of the half. He wasn’t letting the Lakers big man get anything easy.
There were a couple more technical fouls given out after a small scuffle including a number of players. Nothing too serious, not as serious as the double-digit lead Golden State had most of the quarter. Davis and LeBron were really ineffective as a whole in the first half. Dennis Schoeder hit his first shot of the half in the closing seconds. It was a back-and-forth defensive battle with the last four minutes of the half.
Breakaway play after breakaway play was broken up with a steal or block and it got very fast-paced. Steph Curry loves a fast pace. Into the last half-minute of the period, Curry used that speed to get the Lakers defense off guard and SPLASH!! hit the three before the buzzer. When he is dialed in there is little anyone can do to stop him.

The Warriors would take a 55-42 lead at halftime thanks to the play from Steph on offense and the suffocating defense from Green.
The second half would not be the same. The Lakers came out with purpose and started to hit their stride. LeBron and AD must have realized who they were in the locker room because they came out on a mission.Without getting his own buckets, LeBron started to distribute the ball.

While LeBron was hyping Steph up prior to the game, Curry had to recognize the greatness in this tough basket.

LeBron would get poked in his right eye during the game. Looking up from the floor trying to focus his vision, the game had become a close back-and-forth, but the King went on playing. CJ McCollum is all for giving James an Academy Award for the incident.

While the Warriors would finish the game with 15 threes, and Curry would put up 37 points, it was James and the Lakers with the last laugh from deep. Claiming to be seeing multiple rims, with under a minute to go, LeBron James knocked down the dagger three from DEEP!

With this game in the books, the Lakers head to the NBA Playoffs as the 7-seed up against Phoenix Suns in the 2-seed. Steph and Bron talked it up on the court afterwards. The Warriors will take on the Memphis Grizzlies for the last spot in the playoffs.
LeBron finished the game with a nice triple-double of 22/10/11. His 10 assists were huge all game. Davis had 25 points and 12 rebounds and the bench brought in some good scoring in the second half. Lakers win 103-100.
