After months of delays and changes due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Jennifer Hudson and company are preparing for the release of Respect. As the film inches toward a theatrical release, MGM Studios have pushed out the latest trailer. In the two-minute teaser, Franklin grows from a talented young girl in Memphis to an international superstar.
Hudson will lead the film as Franklin. She will be joined by a cast that includes Forest Whitaker, Audra McDonald, Marlon Wayans, Tituss Burgess, Tate Donovan and Mary J. Blige. Behind the scenes, Liesl Tommy will make his directorial debut with the highly anticipated film. Tommy is a Tony award nominee who also works with the Sundance Institute. Rounding out the team, Tracey Scott Wilson helms the screenplay. Wilson has also contributed to The Americans and Fosse/Verdon.
