E! and Access Hollywood will be live from the red carpet at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, but Laverne Cox won’t be running up and down the runway interviewing celebrities. Prior to one of the biggest nights in television and film, Cox revealed she had parted ways with E! and was “exploring great opportunities as an actress, artist, host and speaker” elsewhere.
“With an incredible amount of gratitude I’ve decided not to return as host of #LiveFromE’s red carpet coverage,” Cox stated.
“I’m so incredibly proud of the work we did over my three year tenure.”
Cox, best known for her roles in Orange Is The New Black and Doubt, had spent three years with E! and their red carpet coverage crew. Now, she’s moving back towards the screen with roles in Outcome and Clean Slate.
“These moments are a reminder to me of what an incredible privilege it has been to talk to some of the world’s greatest artists about their work, navigating the pressures of success, etc. I’m so excited to keep growing, evolving and exploring great opportunities as an actress, artist, host and speaker,” Cox continued.
With that said, the show must go on. E! will enlist Zuri Hall and comedian Heather McMahan for the hosting gigs. Meanwhile, Keltie Knight will provide commentary during Live From E!: Golden Globes. Red carpet coverage is set to begin on Sunday, January 5 at 6 p.m. EST.
