There’s a day for everything, including popcorn. Yes, you read that correctly. National Popcorn Day is set for Sunday, January 19 and one of the nation’s largest movie theater chains, Cinemark, is looking to join in on the fun.
On National Popcorn Day, Cinemark invites patrons to bring any container, up to 400 ounces, and the theater will fill it with popcorn for just $5. Adding to the celebration, Cinemark gift cards will be available at a 10% discount and patrons can follow the theater chain’s social media channels for an opportunity to win a free large popcorn.
“Got a bucket or container handy? Swing by any Cinemark on National Popcorn Day (1/19) and we’ll fill ‘er to the brim with buttery popcorn,” Cinemark wrote.
The weekend of Sunday, January 19 promises to be a busy one for theaters around the county. Leading the way, September 5th, a film chronicling ABC’s coverage of the hostage crisis at the 1972 Summer Olympics, will enjoy a wide release. In addition, One of Them Days, starring Keke Palmer and SZA, will debut in theaters. To top it off, Colman Domingo’s Sing Sing and Gail Bean’s Both Eyes Open will make their way to theaters.
