Latto has been identified as Billboard‘s “Top New Artist” in 2022. Commercially, Latto has been an undeniable force in music throughout the year. Her breakout single, “Big Energy,” topped the following year-end Billboard charts: R&B/Hip-Hop Digital Song Sales, Rap Digital Song Sales and Rhythmic Airplay Songs. The track also earned the seventh spot on Billboard‘s year-end Hot 100 chart. Latto’s sophomore album, 777, also placed 15th on the Billboard 200 in April. To top it off, she appeared alongside GloRilla on the “F.N.F” remix and added a verse to Omeretta’s viral hit, “Sorry Not Sorry.”
Beyond the commercial success, Latto has managed to make an impact that goes beyond the track. The Atlanta earned a co-sign from Mariah Carey and delivered a performance at a Stacey Abrams rally. Adding on, she appeared in a Planned Parenthood ad advocating for abortion rights. Not to be forgotten, she also starred in a campaign for Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty.
Heading into the new year, Latto has high hopes for the next stage of her career. Fresh off of tour with Lizzo, she has earned two Grammy nominations and recently appeared on “For The Night” with Chlöe.
