The New York Giants are not the only team that will be looking for a new coach and general manager this off-season. Two days removed from a first-round exit in the 2022 NFL Playoffs, the Las Vegas Raiders have cut ties with their general manager Mike Mayock.
“We have relieved Mike Mayock of his duties as General Manager of the Las Vegas Raiders. We thank Mike for his contributions over the last three years in helping to form the foundation for the franchise to build upon in its future,” the team stated.
Mayock was hired by the Las Vegas Raiders in December 2018 after spending more than two decades in sports broadcast journalism. His three-year tenure with the team involved the acquisition of wide receive Antonio Brown along with introduction of Clelin Ferrell, Josh Jacobs, and Johnathan Abram. Alongside former head coach Jon Gruden and interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, Mayock developed a team that has gone 25-24 with a point differential of -215 since he took over.
Moving forward, it is unclear who the Raiders will target to become their next general manager. As for the head coaching position, Adam Schefter reports that Bisaccia still holds the interim title. However, the franchise “has submitted interview requests for at least one [other] head-coaching candidate.”
