The Houston Texans and offensive tackle Laremy Tunsil have agreed on a three-year extension worth $75 million. This deal includes $50 million fully guaranteed with $60 million in total contract guarantees. Tunsil represented himself in the negotiations and once again is the highest paid tackle in NFL history. With Houston planning to draft a quarterback with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, they will want to keep him protected. Tunsil is one of the better tackles in the NFL and has earned plenty of money from the Houston Texans since being traded there earlier in his career.

After offensive tackle, Orlando Brown signed a massive contract with the Cincinnati Bengals, the tackle market appeared to be resetting. Then the Houston Texans and Laremy Tunsil reached this deal fully resetting the market again. With some young and talented tackles nearing their extension dates, these types of deals are likely to increase with more guaranteed money in the deals. Tunsil was named to his third Pro Bowl this past season and continues to be one of the better offensive linemen in the NFL. While Houston has been rebuilding, he has been a staple with the franchise.
