Tight end Ladarius Green is expected to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. ESPN’s Adam Schefter broke the story.
Former Chargers TE Ladarius Green is expected to sign with
the Pittsburgh Steelers, per source.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) March 9, 2016
Green is scheduled to meet with the team tomorrow to make the deal official. This is an excellent move by the Steelers especially following the retirement of Heath Miller. Green was one of my breakout candidates in 2015 and could really do damage in a pass happy Steeler offense. Green became expendable to the Chargers once the team was able to retain Antonio Gates.
Last season Green caught caught 37 passes for 429 yards and four touchdowns. His production goes beyond that as he is viewed as a superior run blocker as well. The 6’6″ tight end could be a big red zone threat for Big Ben this upcoming season. Green, a former basketball player at Louisiana Lafayette, could be one of the biggest free agent moves of the offseason despite the lack of recognition.
