It looks like the great Antonio Gates will retire in a Chargers uniform. Fox Sports’ Mike Garafalo has reported the team has a deal in place to keep Gates in San Diego. The team has confirmed those reports.

After spending 13 seasons in those powder blue uniforms it remained unlikely that he would leave. Gates, 35, appears to be set for the hall of fame after his playing career ends. In 2015 Gates caught 56 receptions for 630 yards and five touchdowns in just 11 games. His 2014 season was even better hauling in 12 touchdowns. Gates in an 8 time pro bowler who made the conversion from basketball in college. Gates missed four games last season due to PED’s.
This signing leaves some uncertainty for Ladarius Green who could head elsewhere in a bigger role. The team also has to re-sign safety Eric Weddle. The good news is San Diego has a sizeable amount of cap space to work with. The team also kept offensive tackle Joe Barksdale yesterday.
