Now that week one is over it’s time to look at ways you can potentially improve your fantasy teams through free agency. Fantasy free agents can sometimes make a team as Justin Forsett was a recent example of this last season.
Free Agent QB’s To Target:
Tyrod Taylor (Buffalo Bills), Ryan Mallet (Houston Texans), Kirk Cousins (Washington Redskins)
I think it is safe to say the Buffalo Bills are for real and the biggest reason is former Virginia Tech quarterback Tyrod Taylor. I have always been a believer in Taylor’s skill set and got the necessary time to sit and learn. Taylor doesn’t have elite size (6’1″) but he gives you some explosive speed. Taylor is the closest thing to Michael Vick and is capable of giving you 8-9 points every week in rushing yards alone. Could Taylor be a worthy fantasy start In New England next week? Maybe, at the very least he gives you a viable option during bye weeks.
Free Agent HB’s To Target:
Ronnie Hillman (Denver Broncos), Chris Johnson & David Johnson (Arizona Cardinals), Matt Jones (Washington Redskins)
When are people going to realize C.J. Anderson isn’t that good? Anderson was apart of my don’t eat the cheese series including this year’s running back busts. To further the statement maybe Ronnie Hillman is actually better than him, he was of course drafted as Anderson was not. It is no secret that Peyton Manning is responsible for a big part of success in Anderson’s success last season but what if Manning is truly on his last leg? Manning looked horrible in last week’s game against the Baltimore Ravens and his running backs suffered accordingly. If Manning has lost a step he will need Hillman’s explosiveness in the passing game more than Anderson’s running ability.
Chris and David Johnson are handcuffs for Andre Ellington during his injury while Matt Jones should be picked up in case Alfred Morris goes down.
Free Agent WR’s To Target:
James Jones (Green Bay Packers), Donte Moncrief (Indianapolis Colts), Brandon Coleman (New Orleans Saints)
How impressive was James Jones last week? Furthermore what made the Giants say hey let’s cut James Jones in favor of Preston Parker? Parker couldn’t catch a cold in New York’s devastating Sunday Night loss while James Jones reincarnated his old self from three years ago. His two touchdowns last week proved quarterback Aaron Rodgers trusts him more than ever during Jordy Nelson’s absence.
Moncrief and Coleman are two young emerging targets surrounded by two great quarterbacks giving them obvious fantasy upside.
Free Agent TE’s To Target:
Ladarius Green (San Diego Chargers)
Green finally looks like a dangerous tight end after years of being on my fantasy sleeper radar. If any player has a chance to be the next Jimmy Graham it’s this guy because of his freakish size and basketball background.
