Konami has officially started to plan for the next Metal Gear Solid game. And it won’t be a small project neither. Thanks to Kotaku, we have some new news on what Konami has up their sleeve since Hideo Kojima, the beloved director and producer of Metal Gear Solid is reportedly leaving the company. Although Konami says Kojima is currently on an extended vacation, there’s no confirmation on his departure as he’s yet to confirm his status.
“When we start development, a large-scale investment will become necessary,” Konami said in a recent interview with power magazine Nekki.
Konami has already stated that they’ll make more Metal Gear’s wether Kojima is or isn’t on board. It was recently confirmed that Konami has shut down Kojima Production’s LA studios. The company also trashed Silent Hills which would of been created by Hideo and Guillermo Del Toro . It’ll be interesting to see if Hideo decides to be on board for this next project, especially since he’s been “retiring” since the completion of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons Of Liberty. It’ll also be interesting to see if Konami can recoup the money spent on this project if fans decide not to support it if Hideo Kojima isn’t apart of the process.
Stay tuned for any updates on the next Metal Gear that may come. For now, enjoy Hideo’s current last Metal Gear Solid. There’s a nice ending to the story.
