Whats up y’all? We are back again for another Wednesday of sneaker showcasing so I hope you guys are well prepared by now.
Last week Wednesday we shared with you guys a feature from Def Pen’s own Dame who showcased his “Triple C’s” purchase of LeBron 9’s. If you by any chance were under a rock here is what you missed; Kickin’ It With Def Pen: Wear Your Kicks Pt.4.
I decided to take a little hiatus myself but since this week is the week that Jordan Brand is going to be unveiling the long awaited Air Jordan XX9 I figured I step in and share a story of one my Jordan purchases. This one is going to hurt sharing because still till this day I regret doing what I did to get them. Get your minds out the gutter, its not what you think.
Before we get into that I want to say I appreciate you guys for making the #WYK/#WYKW hashtag what its becoming its only a start but I know it has potential to be great. Also my apologies for the delay in the recap from 4/9/14 there were technical difficulties.
Now the sneakers I am going to be sharing with you guys this week are a favorite of mine and I think thats what led to the actions committed to get them. The Air Jordan 3 Retro “True Blue”. Now if you know me personally then you should already know this story.
Since most of you don’t know the whole story lets get into it.
The Air Jordan 3 Retro “True Blue” was a pair of J’s that slipped through my finger tips back in 2007 and I wasn’t about to let that happen again in 2011.
Around this time I was still working at Footlocker and that discount was being utilized something wicked lol. So before the True Blues were dropping, I had purchased a pair of the BHM Air Jordan 3’s prior the initial release. Now let me explain how that was possible.
Now if you ever worked in a sneaker store you would know there are usually gems that are straggling around in the stock room.
It was right around my birthday in April I decided to pick them up and come to find out it was around the time the store had a 50% (boy those days are NOT the same anymore). So yeah I copped the Air Jordan 3 “BHM” for like $80. Now at the time I was just getting my feet wet back into the swing of things with kicks. I took off from like 2006-09/10 don’t know why but I really regret it. When I got those BHM 3’s I didn’t realize what I had until it was too late.
So time goes on and after numerous attempts to start becoming a re seller I couldn’t get rid of these things to save my life. This is where I made the dumbest mistake of my life. The “True Blues” were approaching and being the broke part time spending all his money on sneakers guy I was, I NEEDED them.
So the morning the True Blue 3’s were being released, I went to Footaction in Jersey at the Pavonia-Newport Mall and got them on discount.
My plan was to return the BHM 3’s to my job and wait to pick them up again but I didn’t do that. While returning them a kid and his father asked me which kicks were they so they offered to buy them off me. I think I ended up selling them for $250. So after doing that I didn’t realize to later I could have gotten them off for more!
Now I have my pair of True Blues, made my money back plus some, lost a pair of sneakers that I probably won’t ever see again because they are MYTHS so I figured let me do something nice. I ended up buying my girl a pair of true blue 3’s as well. She didn’t know I was getting them for her so I got some cool points with that.
Moral of the story. NEVER RESELL UNLESS YOU HAVE TWO OR MORE PAIRS.
Oh yea, its 2014 stop tying your shoes and like Money Makin’ Mitch said in “Paid In Full”, tuck in your laces when you clean your shoes don’t be a ‘poo put’.
