Another week another sneaker Un-Ds, well thats how it at least should be right? Anyway, What’s up y’all? The work week coming along smoothly? Me on the other hand have officially wrapped up week 17 yesterday with our Kickin’ It With Def Pen, so if haven’t done so already check that out.
Moving on, week 18 is where we are and I think I’ll be sharing another one of my many stories of purchases. Even though last week is a task to follow up considering Dame pulled on his two kicks stunts but thats the homie so I’ll let him cook. Oh yeah, go check out his feature from last week.
This week I’ll talk about a pair of kicks that I just had to have and the reason I am bringing them up now is because of a conversation sparked on twitter about being “broke” and over-drafting, lol. Yes I know what you thinking, but don’t judge me everybody has made bad decisions with their vices what makes you any different?
Lets get into it…
So I was currently in between jobs after leaving Footlocker part time for a temporary full time position at JP Morgan Chase, funny how life works. It was November 20th, 2012 and I was supposed to be interviewing for a seasonal position with UPS, hey I needed money, the holiday season was approaching and you got to do what you got to do.
So anyway, this day just so happen to be the day the Nike Air Penny V ‘Miami Dolphins’ were releasing and low key I am a very big Penny Hardaway signature shoe fan so I NEEDED them. Especially after missing out on all the other dope colorways, these were a must.
So my interview was at the location in Manhattan and I just so happened to be in the area of House of Hoops. I honestly could have cared less about the interview at this point I just wanted to cop these Pennys, I know my priorities were f*cked up. I called House of Hoops while I was going through the whole process and everything.
Here is the turning point in all of this, because I lived in Jersey the lady who was preparing to give me the position felt it was more suitable for me to work out in Jersey so I wouldn’t have to spend more money on traveling. Funny how God works. First thing I did when I left was call HoH to find out if they were sold out and they weren’t, just my luck.
Now I have never done something like this before but I think I was more so worried about being embarrassed if I got declined than having a negative account only because I had money coming in so that didn’t bother me. Finally I get to House of Hoops, dude I know that works there knew what size I wore already and when he came back with the kicks he told me they were the last size. Ya know what that means, or like what Dame would say ‘Cop Out or Shut Up’ and that’s what I did. So yes I over-drafted for a pair of sneakers with not a care in the world. Kicks Ova Everything baby thats the motto.
I knew sneakers had taken over my life at this point when I officially over-drafted for a pair of kicks but I am older now and have way more responsibility so I definitely will never do that again.
Oh yeah I went to the interview for the position out in Jersey with the kicks and all. Talk about being unprofessional, got the job though.
