Happy Hump Day people! You all know what today is, #WYKW duh!
Lets get right into it.
Last week I took things into my own hands, I mean it was only right especially with it being 4 months and all. Take a quick second to refresh your memory on the story I shared for my purchase of the Nike LeBron 8 V/2 Low ‘Sprite’ especially with the next installment releasing this week as well.
Now as we officially wrapped things up with yesterdays recap, a new thing we are doing with the participants of #WYKW is making their photos apart of @WearYourKicks_ twitter avi. So we urge you guys to continue to participate and for you to see what you missed last week check the #WYKW Recap (7/2/14).
Today Dame is taking the wheel, fasten your seat belts.
Aye world, want to shout out everybody who continuously supports Wear Your Kicks & #WYKW. You all the illest. Let’s get into this story though.
I remember this day like it was yesterday. I was going crazy the whole week before the release because I wanted the Shadow 1’s so damn bad. I’m hitting up damn near every store I can think of. Of course I had to work which makes it a tad bit harder for me to get a release every Saturday.
So fast forward to the Friday before release day, I don’t have anybody to hold me down, every store is telling me funny stuff about this release, I even called a DTLR to see if they were getting them so Dell could pick them up for me, which shows how desperate I got.
One thing I didn’t realize about this release day was that the Toro 4s would be releasing the same day. At the time with the current state of sneakers, I knew I had a chance of getting a pair from somewhere, where? I did not know, how? I did not know, but I sure was set on getting a pair.
Now July 13th is here, I’m praying everybody jumps on the Toro 4s so this can be a easy cop. 8 a.m comes, I’m on Nike.com, Eastbay and Footlocker, 8 a.m goes. I just went 0-3 in a mere 3-5 minutes. I didn’t give up though because I knew the new 2013 resellers were only selling for an extra $20-$50 profit. I hop on twitter, but to my luck not a noob reseller within reach of the search bar.
I left work a little earlier than I usually did that day, I hit up Footlocker and House of Hoops on 34th street before getting on the express bus home. While I’m on the bus I’m thinking I should go to Jimmy Jazz because one more store wouldn’t hurt. I walk in, I see the Shadows on the wall to my surprise and instantly smiled, almost like an evil smile with a Birdman handrub. I’m thinking to myself of all the kicks these dudes in my area hype over, they sleep on these? TUH!!
As I’m walking out the store, I hit up Dell, let him know I’m successful, but I see the Toro 4s sitting as well. Now I’m thinking, I have extra money, I sort of like them, should I purchase? I was faced with precision and told the sales dude give me a 9.5, copped and walked out happy. What almost turned out to be a bad day, turned into a beautiful day with these two purchases.
“Cop out or shut up” is my motto and that’s exactly what I did.
Almost a year later, my Shadows are the only kicks that are in my rotation every week. Wear Your Kicks people and bring out the heat on Wednesday’s.
