It’s July already? Time is clearly not waiting for nobody, so why keep those kicks deadstock, WEAR YOUR KICKS. That’s what you cop em for anyway right? You are old enough to wear your kicks and keep them fresh with after wear maintenance.
Anyways, last week we had @Cake_Inglish provide us the good word with his feature he provided us for Kickin’ It With Def Pen: Wear Your Kicks Pt. 15. Inglish gave us a brief exert on the legendary Air Jordan 6 Retro ‘Black Infrared’ and I personally am not mad at him choosing these as his all time favorite. Check it out and just see for your self.
Also before we get into this weeks story which will be by yours truly, take a quick look back the #WYKW Recap (6/25/14).
It is now week 16, which is officially now 4 months in, so the kicks I decided to talk about are the Nike LeBron 8 V/2 Low ‘Sprite’.
Lets get into it…
The Nike LeBron 8 v/2 Low ‘Sprite’ was the last shoe I witnessed released like a Quick strike, well what Quick strikes use to be like. Now don’t get me wrong, there was a release date but if my memory serves me correct they dropped like on a Wednesday and the only reason I found this out was from going to Champs Sports on 42nd street in NYC.
It was hot as hell that day too. Anyway I was pretty upset that I missed this release. The release was like June 10th I believe, bad memory.
Now if you’re unfamiliar with the ‘Sprite’ colorway with LeBron signature shoes it all stems back to the partnership and endorsement LBJ has with the Coca Cola product. Sorry for the tangent…
I was currently still working at Foot Locker and at the time my brother had just started working at Nike Town, cheat code I know. Well the Nike Air Foamposite Pro ‘Electric Blue’ was set to drop and as usual House of Hoops was doing a midnight release. I planned on getting a pair with my discount and so did my brother.
Here is where the conflict came into place. Apparently my brother was under the impression he couldn’t use his discount to get his pair from work since he just started out, which was BS but whatever. So we were waiting on line and while doing so the store was open at the time, they usually close at 10 so depending on what time you got there you can walk around or shop.
By my surprise the House of Hoops on 34th street had restocked on the ‘Sprites’, LOL God is funny like that with the way he works. I ended up copping the ‘Sprites’ and was able to still look out for my brother and get him the Foams on discount. So yeah I did get the Brons on discount too. Talk about being lucky…
Moral of the story here is “patience is key”, and now that the sneaker game is at the point it is now, that has become more evident with every release.
