The defending National Champion Baylor Bears have picked up the commitment of the number one ranked shooting guard in the 2022 class, Keyonte George. He is also ranked as the second-best recruit in the 2022 recruiting class. George picked the Baylor Bears over the Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Kansas Jayhawks, and Kentucky Wildcats. The new Bear’s shooting guard is their second-highest-rated recruit in modern history. He only trials former Bear Isaiah Austin in the rankings.

The Baylor Bears are trying to build a consistent winning program and with a move like this, they could be well on their way. George trails only UCLA commit Amari Bailey in the 2022 recruiting class national rankings. He joins 2022 four-star shooting guard Dillon Hunter as the only other commit for Baylor in this class so far. George is a top talent and will likely be playing in the NBA just one year after his year with Baylor. Head Coach Scott Drew could do a lot of damage with a “one and done” recruit. George could have one of the most memorable years in Baylor Bears’ history.

George will stay in his home state of Texas to play college basketball next year. He will then likely enter the 2023 NBA Draft and begin his professional career. Adding a talent like this is the first step for Baylor to establish itself as a long-term college basketball powerhouse. Players like Keyonte George are needed for the kind of program Baylor is looking to build in college basketball. This year the team will defend their championship, but the year after some major reinforcements are on the way.
