The life of Kevin Hart will be explored in BET+’s first-ever original adult animated series, Lil’ Kev. Starring Wanda Sykes as Hart’s mother and Deon Cole as Hart’s uncle, the series will be produced in conjunction with Hart’s multi-platform media company, Hartbeat.
“I’m excited to deepen the partnership between Hartbeat and BET on a project so close to my heart,” Hart told BET. “With comedy veterans Wanda and Deon alongside me, we’re bringing Lil Kev to life—a hilarious celebration of stories inspired by my Philly roots, a place that will always be home to me.”
From I’m a Grown Little Man to What Now?, Hart has put his past on full display throughout his stand-up career and his latest project will continue in that direction. Lil’ Kev will take viewers through Philadelphia in the early 1990s as Hart goes through the ups and downs of middle school and high school.
“The series is set in 1993 North Philadelphia and follows 12-year-old Kevin Hart, whose vivid imagination and boundless optimism clash hilariously with the gritty realities of his neighborhood,” a statement from BET reads.
The animated series does not have an official release date, but it is expected to debut in the spring of 2025.
