Details on the future of the MCU have been few and far between outside of a couple trailers for Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home. Many fans expect Endgame to bring a major shake-up to both the universe itself and the way Marvel Studios approaches the production. Speaking to ComicBook.com over the weekend, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige did offer a few hints regarding the studios’ plans for Disney+, the new streaming service launching this year.
“These will be Marvel Studios productions,” Feige confirmed. “They will be entirely interwoven with both the current MCU, the past MCU, and the future of the MCU.” This may not come as much of a shock to some. However, considering the history’s past with their Netflix series and Agents of Sheild being basically ignored by the larger MCU, it’s refreshing to see. Feige is showing that Marvel’s small screen endeavors are just as important as the studio’s theatrical releases moving forward.
A Loki series is confirmed to be in development with Tom Hiddleston set to reprise his role in one way or another. Vision and Scarlett Witch is also in development with Captain Marvel writer, Jac Schaeffer, attached as showrunner. A number of other shows are rumored to be in development but we likely won’t hear more about those for some time.
A sentiment Feige shared during his interview, “As we’ve been doing for years, we aren’t going to announce anything post Avengers: Endgame or Spider-Man: Far From Home until post Endgame and Spider-Man.”
Captain Marvel is set for to hit theaters on March 8th. Its followed by Avengers: Endgame on April 26th and Spider-Man: Far From Home on July 5th.
