The North Carolina 2020 recruiting class just got better with the addition of a top 100 recruit, Kerwin Walton out of Minnesota. He picked the Tar Heels over the Minnesota Golden Gophers and the Arizona Wildcats. The shooting guard adds much needed outside shooting for Roy Williams and is the exact kind of prospect he seems to like adding to his roster. Walton should be on the roster for at least three years. This is the sixth player to commit to North Carolina’s 2020 recruiting class.
Walton is another great addition to the North Carolina Tar Heels and could find himself in the rotation immediately. His outside shooting ability will be highly valued by the Tar Heels next season. Walton may not start, but he could fight for the position and earn the extra minutes. He is listed at 6’5″ and 195 pounds and that is an ideal fit for North Carolina. Walton is listed as the 99th ranked player in the 2020 recruiting class.
Walton’s shooting ability combined with North Carolina’s shallow guard depth will make him an immediate rotation player. He is a talented guard that should become a Tar Heel favorite over time.
North Carolina’s starting lineup is almost guaranteed to have Caleb Love, Leaky Black, Garrison Brooks, and Armando Bacot in it. That leaves one open spot, but limited players to fill it because it is on the wing. Anthony Harris may be the most likely person to fill the spot if he is healthy. Puff Johnson, R.J. Davis, and Kerwin Walton are the players that also have a shot at that fifth starting spot.
