The Ole Miss Rebels have fired Head Coach Kermit Davis after another lackluster season and the team made the decision before the end of the season. With three regular-season games and the SEC Tournament still left the team will have to focus on their Head Coach search just after the conclusion of the season. Several high-profile names have already been linked to the job already. Assistant Coach Win Case will serve as the interim Head Coach for the rest of the regular season and for the SEC Tournament. Davis was considered on the hot seat this season.

Athletic Director Keith Carter said the following about the decision to move on from Kermit Davis: “We thank Coach Davis for his dedication to the Ole Miss basketball program and our student-athletes. No one wanted to bring a title home to Mississippi more than him, and we appreciate the passion for that goal that he shared with our team every day.” It seems as if the program was appreciative of his tenure, but needs to move in a more winning direction next season.
Another name picking up some traction for Ole Miss, per sources.
Former LSU coach Will Wade.
Again, like Beard, would be a risk – especially without NCAA investigation resolved.
But he and Beard have track record of winning. https://t.co/tir13iPXzc

As the Head Coach of the Ole Miss Rebels, Kermit Davis led the program to an overall record of 74-79 and an SEC record of 32-55. With the program now looking at candidates like Chris Beard and Will Wade, it is clear the program is swinging for the fences moving forward. The team has a clear goal of competing in the SEC. For the last few seasons, the SEC has fired several coaches and Davis was rumored to be on the hot seat as well. With him now gone, the program will look to move forward.
