Oregon Ducks freshman big man Kel’el Ware has announced that he is entering the transfer portal this offseason. Coming out of high school he was a top-ten recruit in his class. Ware was projected to be a “one and done” prospect coming out of high school but has seen his draft stock dip significantly during the 2022-23 college basketball season. He was once even projected to be a lottery pick in the 2023 NBA Draft. This news would indicate that he does not plan to declare and will play for another college program instead next season.

During his sole season with the Oregon Ducks, Kel’el Ware averaged 6.6 points, 4.1 rebounds, 0.5 assists, and 1.3 blocks per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 45.7 percent and a three-point percentage of 27.3 percent. With his former status as a five-star recruit coming out of high school, Ware is sure to get plenty of looks in the transfer portal. His decision will be important for his future NBA Draft stock. There is still plenty of time for him to right the ship ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft. Ware will need to weigh his options carefully and pick a school that can maximize his potential.
