Justin Tucker hit an NFL record 66-yard field goal to beat the Detriot Lions in week three of the 2021 NFL Season. The kick lifted the Baltimore Ravens over the Detriot Lions with a score of 19 to 17. That kick was good enough to beat Matt Prater’s 64-yard make with the Denver Broncos on December 8th, 2013. Prater attempted a 68-yard field goal on the same day as Tucker’s 66-yard make, but it was no good and returned for a 109-yard touchdown.
DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?!?!

Justin Tucker’s NFL record 66-yd FG in the Ravens’ win over Detroit Sunday marks the 2nd time in Lions history that they have lost a game on a record-setting field goal.

Justin Tucker has long been building a resume that could see him retire as the greatest kicker in NFL history. This is just another accolade to add to his collection. In the game against the Lions, Tucker hit four of his five field-goal attempts and his one point after attempt. The four makes were from 39 yards, 50 yards, 32 yards, and finally the record-breaking 66-yard game-winner. It looked like the Lions were ready to hold on to a 17-16 win before the Ravens kicker came up with a massive game-saving play.

It seems inevitable that one day Justin Tucker will be enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. This is a record that could stand for years considering kicks that would break it are almost never attempted. Tucker finds himself in the NFL history books, for now.
