There has been no shortage of football inspired films within the last few weeks. At Netflix, Charles Kinnane and Daniel Kinnane have rolled out the first trailer for their Sean Payton-inspired film, Home Team. Meanwhile, directors Jon and Andrew Erwin have brought Kurt Warner’s story to life through the film, American Underdog. Not to mention, Fox is preparing to release a documentary highlighting the career of John Madden. Now, Peacock is entering the battlefield with its new documentary series, Joe Montana: Cool Under Pressure.
With its latest documentary, NBC’s streaming platform plans to highlight the career of the legendary San Francisco 49ers quarterback. From his time to Notre Dame to iconic moments at Candlestick Park, the documentary will look back at special moments through the eyes of the one and only, Joe Montana. Along the way, Montana will be joined by Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, Earvin “Magic” Johnson and countless others.
“Quarterback Joe Montana had many accomplishments over his football life. He won a National Championship at Notre Dame. He was undefeated in four Super Bowls and was named Super Bowl MVP three times. But what truly defined Montana was the simple fact that he was cool under pressure,” the series description reads.
“The 6-part premium sports documentary series, Joe Montana: Cool Under Pressure features stories that most people don’t know; the doubt from his coaches, the controversies with teammates, and the insecurities from within that drove one of the greatest quarterbacks to ever play the sport.”
