WWE Hall of Famer Jerry Lawler has suffered a stroke and is recovering in a hospital in Fort Meyers, Florida. The professional wrestling icon, who is 73, suffered a stroke back in 2018 and collapsed in 2012 while broadcasting for Monday Night RAW after a heart attack. Lawler is best known as a Memphis wrestling icon in the 1970s and 1980s and as a broadcaster alongside partner Jim Ross in the 1990s and 2000s. With him recovering in the hospital the hope is he will be able to return to normal functions as soon as possible.
I spoke very briefly with ?@JerryLawler? tonight.
He’s obviously weak but I could understand his affected speech.
Jerry’s prognosis is positive but he needs all our thoughts and prayers. #LoveYaKing pic.twitter.com/5pkunLriHm— Jim Ross (@JRsBBQ) February 8, 2023
In a statement from the official Twitter account of Jerry Lawler an update on his condition was given and said the following: “His speech is limited, but with rehabilitation will regain full recovery. He thanks everyone for the continued prayers and will be back in the near future.” The tweet also included photos of Jerry “The King” Lawler alongside legendary manager Jimmy Hart. We here at Def Pen Sports wish Lawler the best in his recovery from a stroke and hope to see him back up and doing whatever he hopes to do in the future.
