WWE is bringing SummerSlam to Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan on Saturday, August 5th, 2023 according to a press release. This is the first WWE event at the Detroit Lions stadium since the venue hosted WrestleMania in 2007. This is also the first SummerSlam to be held in Michigan in the past 30 years. “The Biggest Party of the Summer” is considered the second-biggest WWE event behind WrestleMania. Tickets for the event will go on sale on TicketMaster on April 14, 2023. For now, the card is unannounced and will likely stay that way until WWE gets much closer to the event.

WWE Executive Vice President Dan Ventrelle said the following in a statement about the announcement: “We are excited for Ford Field to host WWE’s biggest event of the summer and look forward to the WWE Universe converging on Detroit to celebrate SummerSlam’s long-awaited return to Michigan.”
DSC Executive Director Dave Beachnau said the following in a statement about SummerSlam being in Detroit this summer: “Landing WWE SummerSlam at Ford Field is a signature win for Detroit and continues the momentum of the Detroit Sports Commission in attracting major sporting events to the region. Metro Detroit enjoys a special place in WWE history and has produced many iconic moments. Thank you to the entire WWE family for entrusting us with this incredible opportunity, and we look forward to delivering a first-class experience.”
The WWE is in a transitionary period and with WrestleMania coming up this announcement showcases where the company will be in the next six months. Detroit, Michigan get ready the summer is going to be fun.
