The Florida State Seminoles have extended Head Coach Mike Norvell through the 2029 college football season. His early tenure with the program has been viewed as a massive success by the athletic program. While Florida State has not returned to its former glory as of right now, Norvell has them on the right track. This new deal will pay the Head Coach an average of $8.05 million per year. The deal includes several incentives and a six million buyout in 2023 which drops to four million in 2024 and one million each of the following years of the deal.

Florida State Atheltic Director Michael Alford said the following in a statement about the extension: “Coach Norvell has re-established a culture that the entire Seminole family can appreciate. We are proud of the way coach Norvell, his staff, and his team represent Florida State University on and off the field. Under coach Norvell’s leadership, we have experienced the highest grade-point average in program history multiple times, an unprecedented impact in our community, and drastic improvement on the football field through him establishing a foundation of unwavering standards in all areas. I’m happy that we are going to continue climbing with Coach Norvell for years to come.”
In his three-year tenure as the Head Coach of the Florida State Seminoles, Mike Norvell led the team to an overall record of 18-16 and an ACC record of 11-13. This past season was the program’s first ten-win season since 2016. The season ended with a 35-32 win over the Oklahoma Sooners in the 2022 Cheez-It Bowl. A promising season for the up and coming Head Coach.
