After playing a surprisingly prominent role for the Cleveland Cavaliers last season, reserve forward Jeff Green is on the move after just one season with the club.
With the Cavs in a state of flux following the departure of LeBron James, David Aldridge reports that Green will join the Washington Wizards on a one-year deal worth the veteran’s minimum.
Wizards reach deal with @unclejeffgreen on a one-year minimum deal, per source. Will add depth after @mikescott departure to Clippers.

Following the departure of Mike Scott, Jeff Green should be able to serve as an ample enough replacement off the bench. While he won’t shift the needle for the Washington Wizards, Green provides the Wizards with some extra scoring help to their pedestrian reserve unit.
Though the Wizards already roster a plethora of young, promising forwards in Otto Porter, Kelly Oubre Jr., and recent draft pick Troy Brown, Green figures to be deployed more as a part of their frontcourt instead of a wing.
The Wizards have lost both Mike Scott and Marcin Gortat this offseason, meaning Green is likely in line to be the primary backup power forward. Typically against playing small ball, perhaps head coach Scott Brooks and the Wizards are opening up to the idea, as Green will certainly be their primary 4 man behind starter Markieff Morris.
