After further medical review, New England Patriots running back James White is expected to miss the rest of the 2021 season with a hip injury. He sustained the injury in week 3 against the New Orleans Saints and was later diagnosed with a serious hip injury. The veteran pass-catching running back will sorely be missed on a roster with rookie quarterback Mac Jones. Week 4 and onward will not have White on the Patriots’ active roster.

White is an incredibly important piece to the Patriots’ roster and has been for years. From Tom Brady’s security check down to Super Bowl walk-off winner to Mac Jones’ reliable target this season. He has been a reliable player on the field and a leader in the locker room. His loss this season is a blow to the Patriots’ new-look team. James White will be sorely missed until he returns to the field.

So far this season, White had ten carries for 38 yards and a touchdown paired with 12 catches for 94 yards. Fellow Patriots captain Devin McCourty had the following to say after the injury: “James is the quiet leader. Obviously not having a guy like that hurts as a team, he had gotten off to a great start, and you just hate to see the long road to recovery that comes with being injured, but he’s one of the toughest people I’ve been around. I know he’ll bounce back.”
We here at Def Pen Sports hope to see James White healthy and back on the field next year.
