The Gonzaga Bulldogs have landed their highest-ranked recruit ever in Jalen Suggs. Mark Few has built a west coast powerhouse with the Bulldogs and that was largely without top-ranked talent on his team. It may be hard to fathom this reality, but Suggs is the Bulldog’s first-ever five-star recruit. The rankings began in the early 2000s so guys like John Stockton were not ranked in that fashion.

The 6’5″ combo guard is one of the more interesting prospects in the 2020 class. He is also a ranked prospect in football even if he barely cracks the top 400. Suggs was a dual-threat quarterback in high school but decided he had played his last game in that sport to focus on basketball. Mark Few will be happy to have his first-ever five-star recruit on campus next year.
The guard has committed to Gonzaga, but there is still a chance he decides to play basketball professionally overseas before making his jump to the NBA. That decision will depend on several different variables and Gonzaga may not learn about it until the summer. Mark Few isn’t exactly used to having “one and done” talent so either way, it will be a different experience in Spokane.
Gonzaga now has the #7 Ranked Recruiting Class.

Gonzaga has been a powerhouse for decades and has been an international recruiting hub for nearly just as long. Their success hadn’t translated to top recruits before now, but Suggs could change some of that if he finds some success with Few. A future with Mark Few landing five-star talent could see Gonzaga cutting down quite a few nets as well.
