For more than a full year, it has felt as if fans of Prime Video’s hit series, Invincible, have been waiting to learn when the show will return for a second run around the streaming verse. It all started back in January of 2022 when actor Steven Yeun told Collider, he hadn’t even been told when he would come back to work on the show’s second season.
“We haven’t started. I know we’re starting at some point soon. I’ve talked to Robert [Kirkman], here and there. He’s super excited about it. He thinks Season 2 is gonna be even better than Season 1, which I have no doubt about. If you go to his source material, Invincible is an incredible comic, and just thinking about how much story hasn’t been told from that run, it’s gonna be bonkers,” Yeun explained.
Eight months later, actor Khary Payton spoke to The Movie Dweeb and offered a more positive update. According to the actor, season two had been finished and production of season three had already begun.
“We finished Season 2, we’re on to Season 3. But, it’s so hard to say right now,” Payton said.
Then, the holy grail was delivered. Earlier this month, Amazon executive Vernon Sanders talked to Steven Weintraub of Collider and indicated that season two would arrive in 2023. Unfortunately, he didn’t offer a specific date.
“2023 is going to be a great year for people,” Sanders told Weintraub.
Today, Prime Video didn’t provide a specific date, but a video featuring the show’s titular character did suggest that a new season would arrive sometime in the second half of the year. As they put it, the show will be back in “late 2023.”
