Each and every category at the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards is stacked. In the “Best Hip-Hop Album of the Year” category, It’s Almost Dry is going head to head with Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers. Elsewhere, “Family Ties” is competing with “Johnny P’s Caddy” in the “Best Collaboration” category. With that said, no category was harder to pick than the “Best Breakthrough Artist of the Year” category.
In 2022, there have been a number of artists making their way to the top. This time around, BET has sorted this class of newcomers down to a group of seven nominees. Baby Keem picked up his first Grammy Award earlier this year. Fivio Foreign just dropped multiple records with Kanye West. Not to mention, Doechii is leading the way for the next generation of TDE acts. However, no one shined brighter than Glorilla. The Memphis native kicked off the awards broadcast by taking home the “Best Breakthrough Artist of the Year” award.
Glorilla has been building to this moment for months. Throughout the summer, it was impossible to go to a brunch, festival, etc. without hearing “F.N.F.” Not to mention, she signed with Yo Gotti’s CMG, collaborated with Cardi B and rocked the stage at Rolling Loud. With this award in her hand, the future is bright for the Memphis native.
