Amazon has found the lead for its serial adaptation of Darby Kane’s Pretty Little Wife. According to a report from Variety, Gabrielle Union has landed the lead role with Meredith Lavender and Marcie Ulin attached as the lead writers. Kristen SaBerre, Barry Jossen and Tana Jamieson have also reportedly agreed to executive produce the project.
“[Amazon’s adaptation of Pretty Little Wife is] a cat-and-mouse thriller with a pulpy edge and some sexy soap that centers around two brilliant — and very different — Black women: Lily (Union), the pretty little wife suspected of murdering her husband, and Ginny, the detective on the case,” the series description reads, according to Variety.
“Upon entering each other’s lives, they begin to crack open each other’s façade to reveal what really lies beneath.”
Union recently starred in the feature film, The Inspection, in 2022. More recently, she has appeared in Apple TV+’s Truth Be Told and Disney+’s The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder. Moving forward, she is also set to appear in White Dave, Space Cadet and The Perfect Find. Not to be forgotten, she also owns and operates her haircare brand, Flawless.
