NBA Picks 3/10/22
A brutal 1-1-1 record last night has us at 5-3-1 on the week. Not bad, but it could be better. The Dallas Mavericks got blown out by the New York Knicks for the second time this year. In a vacuum it seems like an absurd outcome but the Mavericks have lost five out of the last six against the lowly Knicks so the outcome is not all that surprising. The Boston Celtics took care of the business against the Charlotte Hornets. The brutal part about last night came at the hands of the Denver Nuggets. The Nuggets were up six and had a breakaway dunk that would have allowed them to cover but a member of the Nuggets sailed a pass several feet over the head of Nikola Jokic. Overthrowing Jokic is impressive but cost us a chance at a 2-1 night. With a limited slate tonight, we will try to identify the value in the two nationally televised games with the NBA Picks 3/10/22.
Brooklyn Nets at Philadelphia 76ers (-4.5) 7:40 p.m EST
This game will come down to the Brooklyn Nets’ lack of rim protection. Joel Embiid and James Harden will live at the free-throw line tonight. I expect an ugly and aesthetically unpleasing game between these two teams. Whatever anticipation fans have for this game because of the recent blockbuster trade will quickly dissipate. Ultimately, I think the Philadelphia 76ers’ ability to get what they want in the paint will be the difference-maker.
Pick: Philadelphia 76ers -4.5 (-110 via DraftKings)
Golden State Warriors at Denver Nuggets (+2) 10:10 p.m EST
With Draymond Green out, Nikola Jokic will continue to cement his case as this year’s MVP. Otto Porter and Gary Payton being out for the Warriors puts a bigger strain on the Warrior’s depth issues. It’s going to take a classic Stephen Curry performance to keep this one close.
