Kansas State Wildcats basketball Head Coach Bruce Weber has informed the team he will be stepping down after ten seasons with the team. While he has seen plenty of success in his tenure, the last few seasons have been less than stellar for the Big 12 program. The Kansas State Wildcats finish the season with a first-round loss to West Virginia Mountaineers in the 2022 Big 12 Tournament. They also finished the regular season second from the bottom in the Big 12 with an overall record of 14-17 and a Big 12 record of 6-12.

After the loss in the 2022 Big 12 Tournament on Wednesday night there was speculation that it would be Bruce Weber’s final game as the Head Coach of the team. During his time with the Wildcats, the team had an overall record of 184-147 with a Big 12 record of 82-98. The last three seasons really skewed those numbers against the Head Coach. In those ten seasons, he led the team to the NCAA Tournament five times including one Elite Eight appearance. They also won the Big 12 regular season twice in that time. Weber won Big 12 Coach of the Year in 2013.
Here’s the full six minute response from Bruce Weber when asked if he had anything to say if this was his last game at K-State. Really starts to get emotional around the 3:40 mark and goes into detail about how he got his start in coaching.

College basketball can be an emotional sport in the best and worst ways. Bruce Weber will surely coach somewhere else again if he decides he wants to do that. We here at Def Pen Sports wish him the best moving forward.
