Only 10 days stand in between the Golden State Warriors and the beginning of the 2022-2023 NBA Regular Season. As the team prepares for the first game of the season, the Warriors will be without Draymond Green. Following an altercation with Jordan Poole during practice on Wednesday, Green will take a “few days” away from the team. On Saturday, the four-time NBA Champion addressed the press for the first time since the altercation and apologized to Poole and his family publicly.
“I was wrong for my actions,” Draymond Green said.
“There’s a huge embarrassment that comes with [this]. Not only for myself, as I was the one who committed the action … but the embarrassment that Jordan has to deal with and that this team has to deal with, this organization has to deal with. But also Jordan’s family. His family saw that video. His mother, his father saw that video. If my mother saw that video, I know how my mother would feel.”
At this time, it is unclear how long Draymond Green will be away from the team or if a fine will be handed down. Warriors General Manager Bob Myers has said that the matter will be handled “internally.”
“As far as any suspension, punishment, fine, we’re going to handle that internally,” Myers explained.
“These things happen. Nobody likes it, we don’t condone it, but it happens.”
With Draymond Green out for the foreseeable future, the Warriors will begin the 2022-2023 NBA Preseason on October 8, 2022 against the Los Angeles Lakers.
