Head Coach Hubert Davis and the North Carolina Tar Heels have landed the commitment of 2024 top 60 recruit and top 20 small forward Drake Powell. He is the first member of the 2024 recruiting class to commit to the Tar Heels and has leaned toward that decision for some time now. The Pittsboro small forward is a short drive from the Chapel Hill campus. He held offers from programs like the Florida State Seminoles, Cincinnati Bearcats, Miami Hurricanes, and several others. Powell still has a few seasons in high school before he will head to campus as a freshman.

The outlook of the North Carolina roster in 2024 when Drake Powell arrives on campus is hard to determine at this time. With two seasons and one recruiting class in between the Fall of 2024, the roster for that season is nearly impossible to say. It is also hard to say where Powell will be in the rankings by then because he has time to grow or regress as a player as he gets older. Only time will tell in that regard.

The North Carolina Tar Heels are hoping to win a National Championship this year and every year. Drake Powell will come into the roster in the Fall of 2024 and could perhaps compete for a title at least one of the seasons he is on the Chapel Hill campus. Hubert Davis will be a more experienced Head Coach by then and the sky could be the limit for Powell at North Carolina.
