The Clemson Tigers have signed Head Coach Dabo Swinney to a ten-year contract extension worth $115 million. Under the watchful eye of the Head Coach, the Clemson football program has become a powerhouse in the ACC and the NCAA as a whole. The deal averages out to $11.5 million per year which is just below Alabama Crimson Tide Head Coach Nick Saban at $11.7 per year million and just above Georgia Bulldogs Head Coach Kirby Smart at $11.2 million per year. All three head coaches have signed new deals in the past month with their programs.
Dabo Swinney has just received a new contract that runs through 2031. He’ll make $10.5 million in 2022 and will incrementally work his way up to $12.5 million at the end of the contract. His buyout for the Alabama job remains 1.5 times higher than the buyout for any other school.

As the Head Coach of the Clemson Tigers, Dabo Swinney has led the program to an overall record of 151-36 and an ACC record of 92-19. He is a two-time ACC Coach of the year, the 2015 NCAA Coach of the year, and has led the program to seven ACC Championships, and two National Championships in his tenure with the program. Swinney has coached the Tigers since 2008 and it is his first and only head coaching job in the NCAA.

The Clemson Tigers have become a top NCAA football program under the leadership of Dabo Swinney. This deal should keep him in the program for the extended future. The looming threat of losing him to the Alabama Crimson Tide if Nick Saban retires will always be in the back of the minds of the Clemson program.
