A new era is beginning at one of music’s most prolific and highly-respected labels, Top Dawg Entertainment. Within the last two years, Reason and Ray Vaughn have both put forth projects to introduce themselves as TDE artists. Now, Doechii will have an opportunity to do the same. Shortly after connecting with SZA and releasing the “Persuasive” remix, the Los Angeles native has announced that she will release her TDE debut EP, She/Her/Black B*tch, on August 5.
As previously reported by Def Pen, the TDE signee revealed the title of her upcoming project during a recent interview with MTV.
“I’m doing a four-pack EP. That’s going to be coming out. It’s called She/Her/Black B*tch,” she said.
“In my Instagram bio, I put those as my pronouns because I’m really attached to the phrase, ‘Black b*tch.’ It’s something that I feel like I’ve heard a lot in my life. It’s something that people have tried to tear me down with and I’ve kind of tapped into that energy and realized what it really means to be a Black b*tch. Now, I really love it. I feel like these four songs kind of explain the four layers of the Black b*tch.”
Doechii has not yet unveiled the track list for her upcoming project, but it will likely include tracks like “Crazy,” “B*tch I’m Nice” and “Persuasive” featuring SZA. Not to mention, there could be room for collaborations with her new TDE labelmates like Ray Vaughn, Reason and Zacari.
