WBA Light Heavyweight Champion Dmitry Bivol may not be in line for a fight with Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, but he may have a shot at a big fight with another champion. Boxing Scene has reported that Bivol will target a unification bout with fellow light heavyweight champion Artur Beterbiev next year.
“Of course [I want to fight Beterbiev], this fight could happen [in the spring]. I am ready for big challenges, we were ready to fight any of the champions to win another title. If the fight with Beterbiev is organized, it will be great,” Bivol said, according to Boxing Scene.
“I want to wish Artur good luck in the fight with Marcus Browne, and then we will see what will happen.”
Bivol last fought on December 11 in Russia. In a fairly uneventful fight, Bivol scored a unanimous decision. Meanwhile, Beterbiev will look to defend his two championship belts on December 17 in Canada. He enters the bout as -1200 favorite against the challenger, Marcus Browne.
