North Carolina State Wolfpack senior big man DJ Burns has announced he will return to the program next year for his fifth season. He is able to return for a fifth season thanks to the extra year of college eligibility that was granted to players due to the impact the Coronavirus had on the 2020-21 college basketball season. Burns spent his first three college basketball seasons with the Winthrop Eagles before spending the 2022-23 college basketball season with the North Carolina State Wolfpack. This is a huge return for the ACC program heading into next season.

This past season as a senior for the North Carolina State Wolfpack, DJ Burns averaged 12.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 1.5 assists per game. He paired those numbers with a field goal percentage of 56.1 percent and a free throw percentage of 61.5 percent. Burns gained a larger role as the 2022-23 college basketball season progressed and ended up being the anchor down low for the Wolfpack. He helped lead the team to an appearance in the Round of 64 in the 2023 NCAA Tournament. This return with key additions will make North Carolina State a key player in the ACC next season. Burns will be looking to improve for his fifth and final college basketball season.
